I first began working with and massaging oncology patients in my Massage Office. A client's input, history and experience are integral to the way I plan and execute each session. I employ a variety of techniques that I safely adapt for use in ways that are appropriate for each client. Energy work, myofascial release, Swedish massage and scar tissue mobilization are a few of the tools I use most commonly in my work. I focus with clients experiencing advanced disease and/or end of life. I often work with family members and caregivers as well.
Since 2011 I have taught and supervised massage therapists on the oncology medical/surgical in-patient units, in the chemo infusion clinics, and the bone marrow transplant unit in our 6 days basic course. It has been my good fortune to share and exchange knowledge with therapists in the Netherlands and Belgium. I am a founding co-director of the Dutch Instituut Massage bij Kanker and the Dutch Netwerk Massage bij Kanker.
In 2013 I founded Edication Instituut Touch for Care. I developed courses for massage therapists, nurses, paramedical staff in healthcare in Oncology Massage, Massage in End of Life Care, Massage for People with Dementia.
