Elise Frost is a movement educator and licensed massage therapist holding an MFA in Dance Choreography and Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a BFA in Dance Performance and Composition from the University of Florida. Over fifteen years of experience teaching movement practices laid the foundation for her interest in the body as a site for radical process and transformation. After working with community non-profits, dance organizations, and serving as an instructor at the UIUC, she moved to Longmont, Colorado to earn her certification in massage therapy from the Berkana Institute where she subsequently became an instructor. While in Colorado, she was offered a rare opportunity to continue her studies in therapeutic bodywork for pain relief and myofascial Ashiatsu techniques under therapist Chārutā Ahmaiua. During this time, she served a diverse population of individuals dealing with mobility issues, neurological and muscular/fascial pain, post-injury patients, as well as high performance athletes in training. After relocating to the midwest, Elise opened her private practice, Labyrinth Integrated Movement & Bodywork. While practicing in Iowa, she braided her movement skills with her massage knowledge to provide integrated movement sessions in order to better assist her clients with improving mobility, coordination, and encourage injury rehabilitation. She also expanded her skillset and practice to serve individuals suffering from chronic pain and illness. During this time she was awarded a scholarship to study at SomaKinese through their Interdisciplinary Movement and Somatics Program. While in the Quad cities she also completed her training as a Certified Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapist under Nicola McGill via the Klose Training Institute. In 2022, Elise moved to the Bloomington area to be closer with her family and establish deeper roots in the land of the Midwest. This year, she was offered a scholarship to study Oncology & Hospital Based Massage at Beaumont Hospital - a program she has now completed. Elise divides her time between her private practice (Labyrinth Integrated Movement & Bodywork) located in downtown Bloomington, and local oncology support organizations. She continues to meld her diverse movement experience with the ever evolving field of massage and healthcare to provide informed and wholehearted bodywork and most importantly, to facilitate positive change, for the people in her community.
