About
Laura Srygley is a Licensed Massage Therapist and Manual Lymphatic Drainage specialist, with advanced training in Oncology Massage. As an advocate for cancer patients, she has volunteered with the Oncology Massage Alliance, offering hand and foot massages to people undergoing chemotherapy. Currently, Laura contributes her time and skills to Hospice Austin, where she supports people on their end-of-life journey. Recently, she completed an end-of-life doula certification with the Gentle Passages Collective in Seattle, further deepening her understanding for those in their final stages of life. Laura’s years of experience deeply inform her care. She embarked on her bodywork journey in 2001, specializing in Watsu, a form of warm water aquatic bodywork. Laura furthered her education at the Northwest School of Massage in Seattle, where she obtained her massage license in 2005. For over 8 years, she operated a private practice in Seattle, offering both aquatic and land-based bodywork to a diverse range of clients. She worked with individuals navigating through various physical challenges, including amputees, paraplegics, those with cerebral palsy, brain injuries, and cancer, among others. She also catered to common concerns such as stress, pregnancy discomfort, and surgery rehabilitation. While her focus has primarily shifted to land-based bodywork and end of life care, Laura remains committed to incorporating warm water therapy whenever possible. The essence of her aquatic training lies in the profound importance of presence. Attentive listening and being fully present with her clients are the qualities that serve as the guiding principles in her practice. Her bodywork sessions offer a safe and nurturing space for people with cancer, people who have survived cancer, and caregivers.
