Kathleen is a Board Certified (BCTMB) Licensed Massage Therapist specializing in working with adults and youth living with cancer from diagnosis through the duration of the cancer journey. She completed her training in massage therapy in Ithaca, NY in 2008, and began specializing in Oncology Massage Therapy starting in 2011. She has completed additional training in Acupressure Therapy in Boston, MA and in China. Since joining the staff at the Dempsey Center, in Lewiston Maine, in 2013, Kathleen has gained extensive experience adapting massage therapy for clients in a variety of hospital-based settings, including infusion centers, inpatient units, outpatient settings, and bone marrow transplant units. She also supports clients at end of life, including those in hospice care. Her practice is built on providing safe and effective work through touch that is compassionate, client-centered, and relaxing. In addition to providing massage, Kathleen manages three Complementary Therapy service lines for two Dempsey Center locations in Maine. Kathleen coordinates volunteer opportunities in massage therapy and Reiki for the Dempsey Challenge, an annual fundraiser for the Dempsey Centers, founded a professional networking group for licensed massage therapists specializing in oncology massage, and volunteers as a Regional Champion for the Society for Oncology Massage. Kathleen no longer sees clients privately, but would be delighted to be a resource for anyone seeking safe, effective and compassionate massage therapy while living with cancer.
